All summer long - June 26 through August 31, 2026 - whimsical Bigfoot cutouts hide throughout downtown Rochester, each with a challenge to complete. Snap a photo, email your entry, and win raffle prizes including gift cards to downtown businesses. Free for all ages.
TBigfoot Scavenger Hunt
Rochester Main Street is happy to welcome children of all ages and families to participate in the most unusual scavenger hunt in Rochester’s history!
Starting in June, our volunteers will hide Bigfoot, his family and their unusual friends throughout downtown Rochester. All cutouts will be located within a safe walking distance of one another, making this a fun summer activity for the whole family.
Find the characters, complete their Cryptid Challenges and submit your entries for opportunities to win gift cards, Pokémon cards, prize baskets and more!
The History of Rochester’s Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt
August 2022: Bigfoot Is Spotted Downtown
Bigfoot is spotted in downtown Rochester, and the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt is born!
July 2023: More Bigfoots Arrive
The number of Bigfoots increases, and they can be found throughout downtown Rochester.
July 2024: The Families Arrive
Entire Bigfoot families are spotted throughout downtown. Apparently, the families love it here!
July 2025: Bigfoot Brings His College Buddies
Bigfoot brings some of his buddies from college to Rochester. Grey Aliens and Mothman make their first appearances and introduce the new Cryptid Challenges.

Bigfoot went out and found Challenge Sponsors!
Participants can now complete sponsored challenges for opportunities to win additional prizes, including gift cards, cash, a box of Pokémon booster packs, a summer prize basket and more.
Complete the Cryptid Challenges
Each hidden character has a special challenge for participants to complete. Follow the directions provided with the character and submit the required photo, video or answer to receive an entry into the associated prize drawing.
Families may complete as many challenges as they choose. Each completed challenge provides another opportunity to win.

How do I play the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt?
Explore downtown Rochester to find the hidden cutouts - Bigfoot, Mrs. Bigfoot, Little Bigfoot, the Grey Alien, and friends. Each cutout lists a challenge. Complete it, snap a photo or video, and email your submission with your name and contact info. Every completed challenge earns one free raffle entry.
Is the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt free?
Yes, completely free for children and families of all ages. Challenges may encourage you to explore downtown, but they never require purchases. Prizes include $25 gift cards to downtown businesses, a "Warning - Bigfoot Area" sign, and other fun surprises.
Where are the Bigfoot cutouts hidden?
That's the mystery! Cutouts are placed in public locations throughout downtown, all within safe walking distance of one another. Follow the Rochester Main Street Facebook page for clues throughout the summer.
What's new for the 2026 Bigfoot hunt?
Sponsored challenges! Some cutouts have sponsors with their own dedicated raffles - win prizes like gift cards and boxes of Pokémon boosters just for completing that cutout's challenge.

Star Spangled Stroll
On July 13, Rochester's patriotic community walk steps off at 3:15 PM from the North Main Street lot next to Citizens Bank, travels through downtown along Wakefield Street, and ends at Spaulding High School. Red, white, and blue encouraged - pets welcome on the stroll.
