YEP! Or our Scarecrows will still be Nekkid!! Black Clothing Needed!!
The new volunteer project of the PR/Events committee is called "Scarecrows of the Cocheco". Thjeir goal is to create and display 30 Tim Burton-esque scarecrows around downtown for the month of October, until November 8 after the NH Open Doors Event. In order to do this, we need donations of long sleeved black shirts, blouses, pants and dresses. Adult small and medium are preferred, but any size will do, otherwise...the scarecrows will be very sticklike...and, as one of our volunteers so nicely stated "there is nothing more pathetic than a nekkid scarecrow!". Just drop off donations at Jetpack Comics on North Main Street or the Portable Pantry on Hanson Street. Wire coat hangers are also needed. Thanks for all you do to help!

Construction Advisory: Week Sept. 27- Oct. 1, 2010 Fairpoint to begin demolition of downstream sidewalk
Work wrapping up on underside of span 3! Below is a look at work expected to take place at the North Main
Street Bridge rehabilitation work site this week.
· Masons are expected to complete grinding and repointing on the underside of span 3. Once that work is complete, they will begin work repointing the granite facade of the bridge.
· Last week, crews began work on the upstream sidewalk and poured concrete that will serve as the base of the new granite curb. This week, crews from Wyman & Simpson will continue to install sidewalk forms and rebar for the sidewalk.
· Later this week, a crew from Fairpoint is expected to begin demolition of the old downstream sidewalk where phone lines are embedded in the concrete. This is time-consuming and delicate work because of the need to avoid damage to the
phone lines. The Fairpoint crew also will build a system to support the phone lines during construction work on the bridge, including substantial repairs required to the brick arch of span one. Fairpoint's work on the site is expected to take approximately one week.
For more information about the bridge rehabilitation project, visit the Rochester Public Works Department bridge web site |
