General Event Questions
What is Hearts On Main Street?
Hearts On Main Street is a downtown Valentine’s event where hearts, artwork, and coloring pages are displayed throughout participating downtown businesses. The event encourages creativity, community connection, and walking through downtown while supporting local businesses.
When does the event take place?
Hearts On Main Street runs from February 1 through February 14, 2026.
Where does the event take place?
Hearts On Main Street takes place throughout downtown Rochester in participating business windows and public spaces.

Wooden Engraved Hearts
How much do wooden hearts cost?
Wooden engraved hearts cost $20 each.
What can be engraved on a wooden heart?
Each wooden heart may include a custom message of up to 25 characters. Simple line art may be added upon request.
Are wooden hearts displayed during the event?
Yes. Wooden hearts will be displayed in downtown business windows or public spaces during the event.
When and where do I pick up my wooden heart?
Wooden hearts will be available for pickup downtown after the event concludes. Pickup dates and locations will be shared closer to the end of the event.
Can I pick up my wooden heart during the event?
No. Wooden hearts are not picked up during the event.
Are wooden hearts limited?
Yes. Wooden hearts are available in limited quantities. Orders will close once all hearts have been claimed.

Paper Hearts
What are paper hearts?
Paper hearts are a simple way for anyone to participate. Visitors can color a paper heart and hang it in a participating business window with a suggested $1 donation.
Do I need to sign up for a paper heart?
No. Paper hearts are available directly at participating downtown businesses during the event.
Are paper hearts picked up after the event?
No. Paper hearts remain displayed in business windows during the event and are not returned to participants.
Is the $1 required?
A $1 donation per paper heart is suggested. Donations support Rochester Main Street’s downtown programs.

Hearts On Main Street Coloring Book
What is the Hearts On Main Street Coloring Book?
Each participating business offers a custom Hearts On Main Street coloring page. Visitors are encouraged to collect pages from multiple locations and create their own coloring book.
Is there a limit to how many coloring pages I can collect?
No. Visitors may collect as many coloring pages as they like while exploring downtown.

Art Contest
Who can enter the art contest?
The art contest is open to all ages. Individuals or families may participate.
How do I submit artwork?
Artwork should be submitted by email. Entries may be hand-drawn or digital and should be photographed or scanned clearly.
Submissions must be emailed to [email protected].
When is the submission deadline?
All entries must be submitted by February 9 at 6:00 PM.
How does voting work?
All eligible entries will be posted on the Rochester Main Street Facebook page. Public voting will take place through Facebook reactions from February 10 through February 14.
What is the prize?
The winning entry will receive a $25 gift card to the downtown Rochester business of their choice.

Business Participation
How can my business participate?
Downtown businesses can participate by displaying hearts, offering paper hearts and coloring pages, and welcoming visitors during the event.
How do businesses sign up?
Businesses can sign up by emailing [email protected] with their business name and best contact email.
Are businesses responsible for collecting paper heart donations?
Yes. Participating businesses are responsible for collecting and holding paper heart donations during the event. Rochester Main Street will coordinate donation pickup after the event concludes.
Do businesses need to help promote the event?
Participating businesses are asked to approve co-host status on the Hearts On Main Street Facebook event and share Rochester Main Street’s social media posts promoting the event.
What if my business has limited window space?
Businesses with limited space are still encouraged to participate. Rochester Main Street can help determine a setup that works for your location.
