Lilac the Bear, who visited Rochester a month ago, was back for Moonlight Madness. She was named by Denise DeDe-Poulin, one of the ladies at Gary Dworkin's shop, DAI, Dworkin Associates, Inc. Great name, Denise. Thanks!
The Committees are all volunteers and meet once a month. To decide which committee is right for you, please review our web site and attend a meeting. We welcome anyone who is interested to join us. Our office staff person would be happy to answer any questions about meeting times and dates.
Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. It's best to call ahead since we are often out of the office.
The PR & Events Committee is responsible for keeping the public informed about Rochester Main Street through all media sources as well as planning downtown events. The Committee brought back Moonlight Madness and the Lantern Festival in October. Both events are designed to bring people to the downtown and foster a sense of community.
The Design Committee addresses the visual and physical improvements in downtown Rochester. Emphasis includes preserving historical characteristics and improving the downtown for pedestrian use which includes traffic, parking, signage, storefronts and public plazas.
The Outreach Committee Efforts are two-fold: attracting volunteers and fundraising. Volunteer recruitment is inspired through community education of the Rochester Main Street vision and goals. Fundraising components include hosting and attending events that raise money for programs and events in the upcoming year.
